Copyright and terms and conditions

The reproduction or use of photographic documents for which CNRS Images holds a copyright is prohibited without prior authorization of CNRS Images. Such reproduction or use is solely with the authorization of CNRS, and this authorization is for a single use.
Any reuse requires written authorization from CNRS Images.
No documents provided can be transmitted to a third party for any purpose whatsoever. No changes can be made to a photograph without prior authorization from CNRS Images.
No photographs can be used for advertizing purposes without authorization.

Copyright information

All documents used must include the following text: © CNRS Photothèque, followed by the photographer's name ((this information is sent to you along with the images).
If you do not include this text, you must pay a penalty equal to 100% of the current price of the photo (25% of the current price if you include only part of the text).

 

Sending proof of publication

You must send proof of publication of the images used to CNRS Images within two months of the date of publication (a copy of the journal, URL of the Website, PDF versions of panels for an exhibition, etc.). After that period, you must pay a penalty equal to 50% of the current price of the photo.

 

Reproduction rights for images

  • Any reproduction intended to enhance the status of CNRS is free of charge (promoting research performed in CNRS laboratories, interviews, portraits of CNRS researchers, etc.).
  • Photo reproduction for any other purpose requires the user to pay for the right of reproduction (see prices opposite).

The following text must appear with the images, whether or not the reproduction is free of charge: © CNRS Photothèque, followed by the photographer's name.
